This proposal stems from the company's employee charitable donation matching program, with some shareholders concerned that the plan may pose potential discrimination risks for employees with specific religious beliefs. Charitable Donation Matching Program Sparks Controversy Disney's employee charitable donation matching program stipulates that the company will match employee donations to qualified nonprofit organizations. However, supporters of the proposal point out that the definition of "qualified" organizations may have religious biases, such as potentially excluding charities with certain religious backgrounds. This screening mechanism may indirectly prevent employees who follow these religions from enjoying equal benefits, constituting implicit discrimination. Balancing Corporate Diversity Policies and Religious Inclusion As a global entertainment giant, Disney has long made diversity and inclusion a core part of its corporate culture. The company's current policies explicitly prohibit discrimination based on religious beliefs, but the shareholder proposal argues that relying solely on principled clauses is insufficient to promptly identify and prevent systemic risks. In recent years, several technology and financial institutions in the United States have faced lawsuits over similar plans for religious discrimination, prompting investors to pay closer attention to potential risk points in corporate systems. Management Response and Subsequent Impact Disney's management stated at the shareholders' meeting that the existing charitable donation matching program has passed legal compliance reviews and has a comprehensive complaint mechanism. The company promises to continue evaluating the fairness of all human resources policies but believes that a special risk assessment report is not necessary. The voting results reflect that most shareholders recognize the company's current risk control mechanisms, but the related controversy also highlights the ongoing challenge for multinational corporations to balance cultural diversity and religious inclusion in global operations.

On October 9, Morningstar predicted that the revenue of Australian oil and gas producer Woodside Energy (WDS.AX) will grow by over 30% by 2030, outpacing any of its international peers. Woodside Energy’s share price dropped by 0.6% on the day to 32.12 AUD, after surging 2.6% in the previous trading session.
