Analysis: Geopolitical conflicts and inflation data deliver a double blow, bitcoin falls back to $72,300

Odaily reported that due to escalating tensions in the Middle East and US inflation data exceeding expectations, the price of bitcoin quickly fell back to $72,300, with a 24-hour decline of about 2%. Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), and XRP dropped nearly 3%, and risk assets overall came under pressure. On the news front, US President Trump sent a tougher signal to Iran, calling it the "number one supporter of terrorism" and hinting that the situation may further escalate. Meanwhile, the South Pars gas field in Iran was attacked, Israel was reported to have killed Iran's intelligence minister, and the US used heavy bombs to strike missile facilities near the Strait of Hormuz, all of which intensified market tension and pushed WTI crude oil prices from about $92 to nearly $96.

On the macro data side, US February PPI rose 0.7% month-on-month, higher than the expected 0.3%; core PPI rose 0.5%, also above expectations. It is worth noting that this inflation data has not yet factored in the recent surge in oil prices, further increasing market concerns about inflation stickiness and weakening expectations for interest rate cuts.

Against this backdrop, the crypto market weakened in tandem with US stock futures, with the three major stock index futures turning from gains to losses of about 0.4%. Market focus has shifted to the upcoming Federal Reserve rate decision and Chairman Powell's statements on growth risks and inflation pressures. Meanwhile, Trump has once again publicly called for rate cuts, adding a political variable to this meeting. (CoinDesk)

Japanese government bond yields fall across the board, with the 10-year yield dropping to 3.035%

After U.S. Treasury yields declined overnight, Japan’s government bond yield curve also moved lower across the board. On Thursday, U.S. Treasury yields fell due to a steady long-term bond auction and a buyback operation conducted by the Treasury Department. Cooling expectations for further interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve have also put downward pressure on both U.S. and Japanese bond yields. Investors are currently watching the latest developments in the Iran conflict and movements in the French government bond market. During the session, the yield on Japan's 10-year government bond dropped by 4.5 basis points to 3.035%; the 2-year bond yield fell by 1.5 basis points to 1.915%; and the 30-year bond yield declined by 4 basis points to 4.080%.

India's IT Service Industry Growth Slows; Analysts Say AI Transformation Projects Offer New Support

After Tata Consultancy Services released its earnings, HCL Technologies and Tech Mahindra are set to follow with their own financial reports. Analysts noted that clients remain cautious towards non-essential technology projects, with industry growth expected to stay sluggish. However, recent results from Accenture indicate that spending is not simply shrinking but is shifting towards large-scale transformation projects led by AI. On Thursday, Tata Consultancy Services reported profit growth surpassing market expectations, but its revenue increased by only 0.5% quarter-on-quarter at constant currency. According to Nuvama, “Over the past nine months, the IT sector has significantly underperformed the broader market, mainly due to negative sentiment created by generative AI platform companies, along with uncertainty related to the Gulf War. We continue to believe that the IT services model will persist in the long term, and the disruption brought by generative AI will only create greater opportunities for these companies.”
