Avanti Gold names Mohamed Cisse as CEO, completes site visit to DRC
Avanti Gold Corp. (AGC) (X370) (AVTGF) appointed Mohamed Cisse as chief executive officer effective March 16, 2026, according to a company statement. Cisse had served as interim CEO since December 2025.
The Vancouver-based gold exploration company also announced that its exploration team and CEO completed a site visit to the Misisi Project in the Democratic Republic of Congo during the last week of February 2026. The visit included travel to Lubumbashi, Kalemie and Misisi for meetings with stakeholders.
Cisse brings experience from leadership roles at Resolute Mining’s Syama Mine in Mali, where he served as managing director for three years. He previously held positions at Randgold Resources, including underground mine manager at the Kibali mine in the DRC. Cisse holds a mining engineering degree from the University of Pretoria and an executive MBA from London Business School.
During the February site visit, the team met with MMG Limited’s general manager in the DRC to present the proposed 2026 exploration budget for the Misisi Project. MMG is a strategic stakeholder in LEDA Mining, which holds the Misisi project and is majority-owned by Avanti.
The company plans a 2026 drilling program totaling approximately 42,000 meters of diamond drilling across two phases. Phase 1 will involve 15,000 meters of drilling from March to July 2026, while Phase 2 will cover 27,000 meters from August to December 2026.
The Misisi Project contains the Akyanga deposit, which has an inferred mineral resource of 40.8 million tonnes averaging 2.37 grams per tonne gold, totaling 3.11 million ounces. The resource is based on 19,956 meters of historic drilling.
