Asia-Pacific markets registered gains on Tuesday, with investors monitoring developments in the conflict involving Iran. At the same time, current US President Donald Trump is considering postponing a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping for about a month, given the geopolitical escalation.
The move comes at a sensitive time for global trade, as Trump's visit to China was scheduled for the end of March. The postponement reinforces the cautious mood among institutional investors, who remain attentive to the indirect impacts on energy and supply chains.
In the commodities market, Brent crude oil showed volatility today after falling in the previous session. Contracts closed at US$100,21 per barrel on Monday, down 2,84%. On Tuesday, Brent was up about 1%, trading at US$101,58. WTI, the benchmark in the United States, advanced 2%, quoted at US$95,47, after a sharper drop the previous day.
Asian stock markets followed the recent easing of oil prices. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 index rose slightly, while expectations indicate that the country's central bank is likely to raise interest rates again, possibly to 4,1%, the highest level since April 2025.
In Japan, the Nikkei 225 rose 0,75%, with the Topix advancing more than 1%. Meanwhile, in South Korea, the Kospi saw a strong increase of 2,94%, driven mainly by technology stocks. Shares of SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics registered gains exceeding 3% and 4%, respectively.
The movement was reinforced by statements from Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, who said he expects orders for chips from the Blackwell and Vera Rubin platforms to reach $1 trillion by 2027. This optimism also boosted companies like TSMC, while some Japanese stocks had mixed performance.
In China, the CSI 300 index advanced 0,28%. In the United States, futures were trading near stability after the recent recovery on Wall Street, supported by the fall in oil prices.
In the broader context, the market also observes indirect effects on Bitcoin, which follows the global appetite for risk and fluctuates along with traditional assets in response to macroeconomic and geopolitical events.
