Investors shifting toward gold economy as volatility rises, Nuway Capital CSO Says

Investing.com -- Investors are moving beyond traditional gold hedges and into structures tied directly to the economics of gold production as volatility accelerates across global markets, according to Colin Bosher, co-founder and CSO at Nuway Capital.

Bosher told Investing.com that gold exposure is evolving from a passive reserve to an asset class with its own upstream financial ecosystem.

“What we’re seeing is that investors are no longer just buying gold as a passive hedge, they’re looking for structured exposure to the gold economy itself,” he said.

Rather than relying solely on bullion or ETFs, he noted that investors are seeking models that generate cash flow by participating directly in production and financing cycles.

He pointed to Nuway Capital’s model with SigraFi, which involves extending capital to gold producers in exchange for access to output at below-market prices.

The spread between acquisition cost and the spot market is said to create a recurring margin stream, producing returns tied to production rather than price movements.

“The shift we’re seeing is not just toward gold as an asset, but toward gold-linked financial structures that produce cashflow and compound reserves over time,” he commented.

Bosher argued the rotation into gold is increasingly structural, driven by concerns about monetary stability and long-term scarcity.

“Gold isn’t scarce because we say it is — it’s scarce because the universe produced it billions of years ago,” argues Bosher.

As traditional equity-bond diversification weakens, he states that investors are turning to real assets and resource-backed models that sit “upstream” in the value chain.

Meanwhile, central banks are accumulating reserves at the fastest pace in decades, reinforcing the demand backdrop.

Bosher highlighted the warning sign for excess. “At the moment, demand for gold appears largely rational, driven by geopolitical uncertainty, inflation concerns and central bank reserve diversification,” he remarked.

“What would concern me is if gold markets became dominated by short-term retail speculation detached from underlying supply and demand fundamentals.”
