Japan and Australia Decline Naval Deployment to Strait of Hormuz

On Monday, both Japan and Australia announced they have no intention of dispatching naval ships to the Middle East to safeguard vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz. This decision follows a call from US President Donald Trump, who urged allied nations to form a coalition aimed at reopening this crucial maritime route.

The ongoing conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran has intensified instability throughout the region and disrupted global energy markets, now entering its third week. Trump emphasized on Sunday that countries with significant dependence on Gulf oil should take responsibility for securing the strait, which handles roughly one-fifth of the world's energy shipments.

Asian financial markets responded with caution, as Brent crude prices climbed over 1%.
