According to the latest trading update disclosed on his social platform X, Liao Kaiyuan purchased another 1 million shares of Nvidia on the same day, bringing his total holdings to 2 million shares within just one week. "As promised, I bought another 1 million shares of Nvidia today," the investor posted on X earlier last Saturday. It is understood that on March 3, 2026, Liao Kaiyuan spent about $180 million to buy 1 million shares of Nvidia. After completing the second round of buying, Liao Kaiyuan once again reiterated his firm stance on the artificial intelligence industry and further elaborated on his investment logic. image.png He made it clear that despite widespread controversy over the valuation of tech stocks, he firmly believes that artificial intelligence is by no means a short-lived market bubble, but rather marks the beginning of a new era and is a core embodiment of his long-advocated "KQID Time Engine" theory in the real economy. Liao Kaiyuan believes that when the market is generally fearful due to external uncertainties, large-scale investors have a responsibility to anchor market confidence by increasing their holdings of high-quality tech assets, thereby preventing chain reactions caused by irrational sell-offs. Although, based on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, his wealth is estimated at $13.4 billion, making this acquisition not particularly large in scale, it is still a noteworthy move for Liao Kaiyuan—over the years, most of his net worth has been concentrated in Tesla stock. Although Liao Kaiyuan's cumulative investment in Nvidia has reached several hundred million dollars, he still emphasizes that his investment focus has not fundamentally shifted. Currently, Tesla stock and U.S. Treasury bonds still dominate his investment portfolio, while his continued increase in Nvidia holdings is seen as a strategic supplement and reinforcement in the field of AI computing infrastructure. Timing is also a factor that cannot be ignored. Since the U.S. launched military action against Iran last month, global stock indices have generally declined. Some are concerned that if the conflict drags on, asset prices will fall further. As of last Friday's close, Nvidia's cumulative decline this year was about 5%, Tesla's nearly 12%, while the S&P 500 index fell less than 2%. Based on Nvidia's recent closing price, Liao Kaiyuan's latest purchase cost about $350 million. Apart from stating, "I hope to do my small part to help calm the tense market. Good luck to everyone," he did not make any further comments on this acquisition.

Applied Digital revenue surges, but losses widen due to increased artificial intelligence investment

Reuters, October 7 – Applied Digital (APLD.O) reported a more than fourfold increase in first-quarter revenue, but its net loss widened compared to the same period last year, as the company ramped up investments to meet the growing demand for data center services. The Dallas, Texas-based company primarily develops and operates data centers to support artificial intelligence and other high-performance computing tasks. In volatile after-hours trading on Wednesday, its stock price rose nearly 2%. Details are as follows: According to data compiled by the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), the company’s first-quarter revenue surged from $80.9 million a year earlier to $341.9 million, surpassing the average analyst estimate of $133.8 million. Net loss attributable to common shareholders was $221 million, or $0.76 per share, compared to $18.5 million, or $0.07 per share, in the prior year period. As of August 31, Applied Digital held $3.7 billion in cash, cash equivalents and restricted cash, while carrying $6.4 billion in debt. Total costs and expenses this quarter jumped from $90.7 million a year earlier to $404.3 million. Applied Digital stated that the increase in costs resulted from higher spending to prepare customers’ data centers, increased stock-based compensation, and higher interest expenses as the company expanded its AI infrastructure. “We are focused on long-term development, with a clear commitment to building large-scale, sustainable AI factory campuses, and signing durable, high-quality long-term contracts with leading, proven, investment-grade hyperscale enterprises in the AI industry,” CEO Wes Cummins said in a statement.
