Consumer Confidence Dips in March
In March, the RealClearMarkets/TIPP Economic Optimism Index, which serves as an early indicator of U.S. consumer confidence each month, slipped to 47.5 from February’s 48.8—a decrease of 1.3 points or 2.7%. This marks the seventh month in a row that the index has stayed below the neutral threshold of 50, signaling ongoing pessimism among Americans. The latest figure is 3.3% lower than the 302-month average of 49.1, highlighting that economic optimism remains slightly under its historical trend.
