The biggest structural dilemma is that if social and financial elements are too tightly bundled, financial incentives often backfire and overwhelm social incentives. When users are no longer here to access quality content but to make money, they will start generating a large amount of spam in order to maximize their profits. This is a dangerous signal—because the financial aspect is destroying the essence of social interaction.
