German inflation expected to reach 2.2% in 2025
Germany’s Inflation Rate Holds Steady at 2.2% in 2025
In 2025, consumer prices in Germany increased by an average of 2.2% compared to the previous year, maintaining the same pace as in 2024. Ruth Brand, President of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), noted that price growth has now reached a period of stability. In contrast, inflation rates in earlier years were significantly higher, with averages of 5.9% in 2023, 6.9% in 2022, and 3.1% in 2021. Destatis also highlighted that the monthly inflation rate, calculated as the year-over-year change in consumer prices, continues to reflect this steady trend.
