Monthly PMI Bulletin: Worldwide economic expansion decelerates as confidence remains muted
Global Economic Growth Eases at End of 2025
In December 2025, worldwide economic growth lost momentum, influenced by weak business sentiment and stagnant job creation. Despite these challenges, inflationary pressures remained mild, opening the door for additional policy measures in the coming year.
The J.P.Morgan Global PMI Composite Output Index, compiled by S&P Global, registered a score of 52.0 for December, a decline from November’s 52.7. This marks the lowest level in half a year and extends the index’s dip below its historical average.
The latest PMI figures suggest that global GDP is expanding at an annualized pace of 2.4%, which is notably slower than the 3.1% average growth rate recorded over the previous ten years.
