Russian pawnshop group "MGKL" plans to launch digital asset-backed loan services
PANews, January 14 – According to Finversia, Russian pawn group "MGKL" has announced plans to launch a digital asset-backed loan business. In the initial phase, cryptocurrencies will be accepted as collateral, with future plans to gradually expand to a broader range of digital asset types, including tokens, digital collectibles, and virtual economy items (such as in-game props).
The company stated that, in order to promote the development of relevant laws and operational procedures, it will consult with the Central Bank of Russia to clarify the rules for handling digital assets in pawn operations. MGKL management believes that the pawn industry’s participation in the digital asset market will help improve the market’s transparency and legitimacy, reduce the risk of grey market transactions, and lay the foundation for the emergence of new financial products. The company has noticed a growing interest from clients in including cryptocurrencies and other forms of digital value as collateral.
