Jinse Finance reported that Japan has launched its own "Government Efficiency Department (DOGE)", with the first meeting proposing plans to identify and eliminate inefficient tax measures and subsidies. Finance Minister Kaori Katayama told reporters after the first meeting of Japan's version of DOGE on Tuesday: "By eliminating waste through the efforts of all people (including the public) and directing funds to areas where they are truly needed, we will form a sharp contrast with previous governments. This is crucial for maintaining the trust of the nation, our currency, and our markets." Japan's version of the DOGE organization is expected to be far less radical than the department of the same name previously led by Musk in the United States. Musk once symbolized his aggressive cost-cutting plan by wielding a chainsaw, which led to massive layoffs of federal staff. In contrast, Tokyo is more likely to view cutting existing expenditures as a way to support Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's commitment to a "proactive but responsible" fiscal policy. Big short Burry increases short positions on Micron and Nebius, with the logic that "memory supply surge will put downward pressure on prices"

Michael Burry has dramatically increased his short positions on Micron, Palantir, and semiconductor ETFs, stating that the scale is “quite large.” His main reasoning is that Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron squeezed their conventional DRAM production to meet AI-driven HBM demand, resulting in a shortage; however, with production capacity now ramping up, the Damocles sword of oversupply is hanging over the market. The inventory warning from Acer’s CEO has further convinced him that the memory cycle has already peaked.
