OpenAI launches ChatGPT shopping research tool to help prepare for holiday shopping
Jinse Finance reported that OpenAI has launched a free artificial intelligence shopping research tool, which is said to generate personalized shopping guides for ChatGPT users during the holiday season. Although ChatGPT has always been able to answer shopping-related questions, OpenAI stated that they have trained a new version of the GPT-5 mini model specifically for this purpose, which can ask precise questions and obtain answers from reviews published on websites considered to be of higher quality by the company. OpenAI pointed out that, for example, user experiences shared on Reddit may be more trustworthy than paid marketing content or reviews on product pages. An OpenAI representative told reporters before the launch that this tool does not prioritize specific websites when citing product links. This new tool differs from the regular text interactions users are accustomed to. Users can use a dedicated "shopping research" button in the chat interface and describe their needs with instructions such as "help me find a sofa suitable for a small apartment" or "I need to pick a gift for my 4-year-old niece who loves art."
