Google surges as US stocks rebound; experts warn that light holiday trading may amplify volatility
Jinse Finance reported that as Google (GOOG.O) surged strongly, U.S. stocks rose across the board on Monday. After a previous decline that dampened the momentum of the artificial intelligence bull market, the market rebounded during the Thanksgiving holiday week. Google’s stock performed impressively on Monday, closing up more than 6%. Investors have become more optimistic about the company’s position in the AI competitive landscape. Last week, Google released an upgraded AI model, Gemini 3, just eight months after launching Gemini 2.5. “This is certainly positive for Google and its investors, but I always remain cautious when I see a single stock leading the market higher,” said Melissa Brown, Managing Director of Applied Research at SimCorp. “This does not necessarily indicate a broad improvement in market fundamentals. In my view, it is difficult for this to become a lasting driver of sustained market gains.” As trading volumes are expected to become lighter in the coming days and there is a lack of major catalysts before the Federal Reserve’s December policy meeting, market volatility may intensify. Brown pointed out that if upcoming economic data—including September retail sales and the Producer Price Index to be released on Tuesday—send signals of a “stagflation environment,” it could become a new trigger for volatility.
