The largest block trade in crypto options to date occurred today: 11,350 BTC with a total notional value of $1.19 billion
Adam, a macro researcher at Greeks.live, disclosed on the X platform that today saw the largest block trade of crypto options in history, with a total notional value of $1.19 billion, equivalent to 11,350 BTC, and a premium of $7.5 million. This block trade consists of two parts: one part is 3,800 bull call spreads for September, simultaneously going long on medium to long-term volatility and price; the other part involves selling June at-the-money call options, which, when combined with the September purchases, forms a calendar spread indicating a lack of optimism in the short term. In simple terms, this nearly $1.2 billion options block trade suggests little price increase in June, while a significant market movement, potentially up to a 50% increase, is expected in the third quarter.
