Hacking incidents are continuing in the cryptocurrency sector. Yesterday, the X account of Eric Semler, the president of the giant company Semler Scientific listed on Nasdaq, was hacked, while today, the X account of one of the names close to Donald Trump was hacked.
At this point, the X account of Zach Witkoff, co-founder of the Trump-backed DeFi project World Liberty Financial, was hacked.
The hacker hacked Zach Witkoff’s X account and then introduced a fake memecoin called BARRON, which was related to Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump. The hacker went on to claim that Trump would soon verify the legitimacy of the token.
The fake memecoin called BARRON rose rapidly after this fake post, but its collapse was also very fast.
While the hacking incident was confirmed by the WLFI X account, the team told users to ignore the fake posts.
“Zach Witkoff's account was compromised and a fake Barron's meme was shared. Please do not engage. We are resolving the issue as soon as possible.”
