Sonic Labs CTO: A project with 1 billion TVL is using its open-source code and trying to hide it
Andre Cronje, the Chief Technology Officer of Sonic Labs (formerly Fantom), posted on X stating that he just saw a project with a Total Value Locked (TVL) and Fully Diluted Valuation (FDV) of 1 billion dollars each. This project used his open-source code written under GPL3 and attached it with a BUSL license. He also stated that he could accept not being recognized, they could remove his name from the code, and not mention him or the original project anywhere on their website or documents, even going to great lengths to reshape certain concepts to avoid any association. However, taking something from open source and making it restrictive while profiting heavily from it shows that changes in this field are much larger than he imagined.

Meanwhile, stagflation signals have intensified: oil prices surged over 7% in a single week, and the 10-year breakeven inflation rate rose nearly 10 basis points in two weeks; yet consumer demand continues to cool, with Walmart same-store sales growth dropping to a six-year low of 2.6%. The "stagflation basket" rose 6.7% this week.
