Analyst: Fed rate cut next week back to 50-50 odds

The odds of a 50 basis point Fed rate cut next week have risen to nearly 50% in today's volatile trading, an analyst said. That compares to only a 20-25% chance of a 50 basis point rate cut this time yesterday. Earlier in the day, “Fed megaphone” Nick Timiraos wrote about the dilemma the Fed faces of whether to cut rates significantly or slightly, which sparked some speculation that he may have gotten a hint from the Fed.
