NVIDIA receives subpoena from US Department of Justice as antitrust probe escalates
The U.S. Department of Justice is reported to have issued subpoenas to NVIDIA (NVDA.O) and other companies seeking evidence of antitrust violations by NVIDIA, reflecting an escalation of the investigation. Previously, the Justice Department had only issued questionnaires to the companies involved, but now it has issued legally binding requests for information from the recipients, according to people familiar with the matter. That means the government's investigation is one step closer to formally filing a lawsuit. Antitrust officials are concerned that NVIDIA is making it harder for customers to switch to other suppliers and penalising buyers who don't use its AI chips exclusively, people familiar with the matter said. Representatives for both the Justice Department and NVIDIA declined to comment.
