Ether team head: Ether is losing its 'thread', research team seems to embrace idea of centralising everything

Péter Szilágyi, head of the Ether team, expressed his concerns about the direction of Ether on social media. Szilágyi's views relate to the Ether PeerDAS proposal, which, among other changes, would increase the size of the Ether blob to 32 MB. Szilágyi believes that the PeerDAS upgrade would discourage home pledge holders (typically those with simpler arithmetic setups) from participating in the Ether network, which goes against the spirit of decentralisation. Szilágyi wrote on X: "Ether researchers are 'killing' family pledge holders in front of everyone. This is not something I expected when I joined Ether. Now I would be happy to prove that this is not the case, but I feel that Ether is losing its main thread. The research team seems to be fully embracing the idea of centralising everything, as long as it can be verified. It's a joke: decentralised verification, but centralised control."
