The Bank of Japan raises interest rates for the first time in 17 years, officially ending the era of negative interest rates
The Bank of Japan has raised its benchmark interest rate from -0.1% to 0-0.1%, in line with market expectations. This is the first interest rate hike since 2007, marking the end of an 8-year era of negative interest rates.
