Axie Infinity to Release Major Update Allowing for "Stage 2" Evolution of NFT Characters

Axie Infinity is introducing a "Stage 2" evolution for every Axie monster, allowing over 250 different Axie "parts" to be evolved. This upgrade will improve the character's battle strength and aesthetic look, but NFT owners will need to use crafting materials or "burn" other Axies to upgrade their own, and the process will take 36 hours to finalize. The Axie team is also releasing a 20-page comic and an animated video detailing the lore behind the Axie upgrades. Sky Mavis CEO Trung Nguyen stated that the company is working on implementing vertical progression in its NFT game Axie Infinity, a feature that has not been executed well in NFTs before.
