Oracle Reports After the Close — Cloud Order Conversion Is the Key

3346
Oracle releases results for its most recent fiscal quarter after the U.S. close on September 10th. Per S&P data, consensus looks for FY2027 Q1 revenue of $19.129 billion, up 28.16% year over year, and EPS of $1.299, up 28.65%. More important than the revenue growth rate are three details: the growth rate of cloud infrastructure orders, how much AI data center revenue is actually converting, and the latest capex figure. Oracle's valuation case in recent years rests heavily on its order backlog — and turning that backlog into revenue requires data centers to be built and brought online first, which creates a lag. So the thing to watch in this report is whether the gap between bookings and revenue is narrowing or widening. If capex keeps climbing sharply while conversion stays slow, near-term margins take the pressure. If conversion accelerates, it sets a useful reference point for the cloud group as a whole. Where do you think the cloud computing cycle currently stands? Which names besides Oracle are you tracking?
