Key Takeaways:

  • Global Money Platform For Fiat and Stablecoin Payment by Mastercard and BVNK.
  • Mastercard Move links to 17B+ devices globally.
  • The plan is to cover 40+ blockbuster currencies by 2027 as well as 200+ markets.

Stablecoins will gain more ground in real-world payments services through stablecoin infrastructure firm BVNK’s partnership with Mastercard and the Global Money Platform service introduced by the latter in August 2026.

The platform offers a single infrastructure layer to banks, fintechs and enterprises to store, convert, send and spend both traditional and stable currency.

Mastercard Combines Fiat and Stablecoins in One API

Global Money Platform’s core feature is a multi-currency wallet, where stablecoins and fiat currencies differ and go side by side.

There is a single API to enable businesses to switch between the two rather than having to buy separate services for accounts, blockchain infrastructure, settlement and payments.

Stablecoins linked cards and local bank payouts and treasury are also among its features. These functions can be integrated in-platform in the company’s products and sold as part of a company’s brand.

The solution can help save multiple vendors, accounts and pre-funded balances for enterprises across multiple nations, Mastercard says.

Mastercard Move Opens Access to 17 Billion Endpoints

Global Money Platform is directly linked to Mastercard Move, Mastercard’s global money movement infrastructure that spans to over 17 billion endpoints.

This enables businesses to direct local-currency payments straight to the recipients bank accounts without the need to balance with stablecoins. Mastercard is looking forward to growth in the service with a targeted expansion to over 40 currencies in more than 200 countries and territories by 2027.

Stablecoin balances will also be available to use on Mastercard’s worldwide acceptance network, including hundreds of millions of merchants’ engagement points. Platform issuing is anticipated to be offered in over 130 countries.

Nuvei, Marqeta and Three More Firms Join Early Rollout

Alongside Ontop, Bolt Group and Almond FinTech, Nuvei and Marqeta are among the first ones to be getting ready to integrate with Global Money Platform. The integration will give their users the ability to transfer seamlessly between traditional and stablecoins and benefit from existing payment and banking options.

Mastercard’s entry marks a step bigger than just making transactions possible for the stablecoin company. Now the company is offering services which could be embedded in products of other financial firms.

Mastercard Builds Toward a Multi-Money Payment System

Global Money Platform is a platform built on a modular approach including send, receive, convert, store, spend and earn. The customer can start using just the services he or she requires and later upgrade to other services as desired.

Not only is this, but Mastercard is also looking to add more functionality to the platform than what is currently available in fiat currencies and stablecoins. Future support should include tokenised deposits and even agentic commerce with a view to the infrastructure for payment systems that joins a variety of money, both regulated and digital, together.

1. Technology stocks fell sharply as investor interest shifted toward energy and selected defensive assets. From October 10 to 16, the Nasdaq 100 declined 5.49% and the S&P 500 fell 1.95%, while the Dow gained 0.67% and WTI crude rose 10.41%. BTC, ETH, and SOL declined 1.27%, 2.65%, and 4.44%, respectively. This week's technology earnings will be an important test of whether revenue growth, margins, and cash flow can justify current valuations. Better-than-expected results could help stabilize markets in the near term. 2. Crypto continues to see pockets of strong activity, but a broad-based altcoin season has yet to materialize. CoinMarketCap's (CMC) Altcoin Season Index stood at 54 as of the October 18 UTC daily observation, below the altcoin-season threshold of 75, while BTC dominance rose to 60.08%. Our proxy leverage ratio fluctuated between 4.00 and 4.07 during the week, showing no sustained increase and suggesting limited appetite for additional leverage. Meanwhile, as major exchanges expand access to traditional financial assets, the recent sell-off in AI-related equities could attract short-term speculative capital away from crypto. Such capital rotation could make it more difficult for a new altcoin season to take hold. 3. Papertrade's loss-to-mine model has generated significant interest across the crypto community. The protocol combines high-leverage derivatives trading with zero slippage and a mechanism that rewards trading losses with PAPER tokens. Across the eight complete UTC days from October 10 to 17, cumulative reported revenue reached approximately $56.08 million, including $51.90 million distributed to token holders. With growing participation from key opinion leaders (KOLs), Papertrade has reportedly ranked among the top three platforms by profitability in the broader market recently. Assets to watch: BTC, ETH, SOL, ARB, OP, SKHYNIX, SKHY, META, TSLA, LRCX, and SPCX. Key research priorities this week: Cash flow performance in technology earnings; the relative discount and holding costs of the two SK Hynix contracts; and U.S. initial jobless claims and PMI data. Weekly market data cover the period through October 16, while research information was verified through October 18. Observation periods are specified separately for each chart.
