The Italian Ministry of Finance has announced its issuance plan: at the government bond auction to be held on August 26, up to 3 billion euros worth of short-term Italian government bonds (BTPs) will be issued.

Spot gold has just broken through the $4,630.00/oz mark, now quoted at $4,630.80/oz, up 2.47% on the day; the main COMEX gold futures contract is now quoted at $4,688.70/oz, up 2.57% on the day.

The price of New York gold futures surged past $4,680 per ounce, with an intraday increase of 2.38%.
