The data released by Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications on August 21 shows that, excluding fresh food, Japan's core Consumer Price Index (CPI) for July stood at 102.1, a year-on-year increase of 1.8%, expanding further from June's 1.6%. This marks the 59th consecutive month of year-on-year growth for Japan's core CPI. Ken Kuwashige, Co-Head of Global Markets at Mizuho, recently stated that the Bank of Japan may raise interest rates again as early as September and may increase the frequency of policy adjustments from about once every six months to once every three months. Kuwashige noted that the weakening yen and inflationary pressures are prompting the Bank of Japan to accelerate its actions, with a possibility of raising rates twice before the end of the year, bringing the policy rate up to 1.5%.
