The Trump administration has authorized the early sale of winter gasoline, the latest move aimed at easing rising fuel costs and supply concerns triggered by the Iran war. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced on Thursday that it will relax summer gasoline standards, allowing the market to use the higher-emission winter gasoline formula ahead of schedule. Typically, this formula switch takes place in mid-September. Under the waiver policy, gasoline blended with 10% ethanol may be sold starting September 1. The U.S. government stated that this move will effectively end summer gasoline requirements early, potentially increasing domestic gasoline supplies by several hundred thousand barrels per day and further alleviating price pressures faced by U.S. consumers at the pump.
