WisdomTree reports $2.24 billion crypto AUM as CEO says tokenization adds 'momentum today while still early'
Asset manager WisdomTree (NYSE: WT), a growing player in the crypto sector, reported record assets under management at the end of last year, totaling $144.5 billion.
This represents a 5.3% quarter-over-quarter increase, driven by market appreciation and the firm’s Ceres Partners acquisition, despite some net outflows, WisdomTree said in its Q4 report.
Although the majority of WisdomTree’s assets under management are tied to its U.S. equities, commodities, and fixed income exchange-traded funds, crypto represents a growing part of the firm’s business.
WisdomTree reported having $2.24 billion worth of crypto assets under management by the end of the fourth quarter, down from nearly $3.2 billion at the beginning of the quarter, but up from $1.9 billion in Q4 2024.
“What were once emerging initiatives, including models, tokenized assets and private markets, are now real businesses contributing to momentum today while still early in their growth,” WisdomTree CEO Jonathan Steinberg said.
The first year of President Donald Trump’s second term fomented a sea change in the institutional adoption of crypto, particularly seen by the launch of dozens of crypto-related exchange-traded products.
While WisdomTree has not issued many experimental altcoin ETPs, outside of moves like offering the first Ethereum staking ETF in Europe that earns rewards by holding stETH, the firm has pushed broadly into blockchain issuance.
WisdomTree has tapped Ethereum-based and Ethereum-adjacent chains like Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, and Optimism, as well as the non-EVM chains Stellar and Solana to launch dozens of investment funds, including a tokenized version of its flagship U.S. debt money market fund, equities products like its U.S. LargeCap Fund and U.S. Quality Dividend Growth Fund, as well as fixed income and alternative offerings.
Earlier this week, the firm said it would reissue its full suite of onchain funds on Solana. The firm manages about $780 million worth of assets across its onchain deployments.
WisdomTree does not appear to break out its tokenized funds from its general accounting of ETPs, though it reported holding an average of $88 billion worth of assets across its 86 ETPs during Q4, up from $80 billion in Q4 2024.
In 2025, the firm saw its crypto- and metals-related advisory and licensing fees and operating expenses jump to $73.5 million, up from $53.5 million in 2024, according to its net income statement.
