- Derek Halpenny, an analyst at Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, pointed out that the rise in energy prices triggered by the situation in Iran is posing significant resistance to economic growth in the eurozone and the euro exchange rate.
- The further surge in natural gas prices is exposing Europe to the shock of worsening terms of trade, and the eurozone’s decision to delay winter gas purchases following the outbreak of conflict now appears to be having the unintended negative effect.
